After almost a week at Topsail Island the children left with Mimi and Grana on July 3rd headed to Georgia. Jack and I followed the next Saturday, and we all (including Mimi) traveled to Clearwater, Florida on Sunday. Thanks to the peanut meeting we got to stay in a resort on the beach. It was Jacob's and Lucy's first ever resort vacation. Jacob is now a "Hilton man" through and through. I am not sure how we will ever get him to stay at a Holiday Inn again. We had a great time visiting with old friends, the Hawk Family, who live in nearby St. Pete. The beach and the sunsets were beautiful, and we packed in about as much as we could during the week.
We traveled back to Georgia on Friday, July 16th, and celebrated Lucy's upcoming birthday in Cedartown with Sadie, Savannah, Grana, Mimi and Pop. It was a princess soiree indeed! Unfortunately we had to put Jack on an airplane that afternoon to Chicago for yet another week of conferences. On Monday, which was Lucy's actual birthday, Mimi, Grana, Lucy, Jacob, and I set off for a day trip to Babyland General Hospital and Helen, Georgia. We had a great time seeing the birth of a few Cabbage Patch babies, and Lucy got to adopt one for her own. What a great birthday Lucy had down in Georgia!
On Tuesday, the children went back to Buena Vista to spend the week. They had great week visiting with cousins Austin, Rebbecca, and Anna Marie. I flew up to Chicago to meet Jack. After a day biking around Chicago, we left the next morning headed to Madison WI for the night. Our ultimate destination was Minneapolis where we celebrated the wedding of some good friends. We took in many sites along the way and spent quality time catching up with friends we rarely get to see. Jack came back to Raleigh for the last week of July, and I went back to Georgia to spend a week in Cedartown with Jacob and Lucy. We had a great week of visiting with family, playing with Sadie and Savannah, and even seeing old high school friends. We concluded a wonderful month by spending the weekend down at the lake (Lake Weiss, Al). We even went to a drive-in movie to see a double feature.
It was a great month! Getting to spend some quality time in Georgia is so important for Jacob and Lucy. They love being there and have never felt out of place or distant by the miles that keep them from being with loved ones more often.
